What is in our name?
Westsyde Landing takes its name from both its location and the feeling it offers to those who arrive. Rooted in the Westsyde neighbourhood of Kamloops, the name reflects a community shaped by familiarity and connection. The word “Landing” speaks to a place of arrival where individuals can settle with ease and feel confident in the next chapter of life.

This sense of connection is also reflected in Dottie the Duck, a symbol of community and care. What began as a vision soon became reality. In 2015, with the addition of Ali Shivji as principal, our leadership team expanded, along with our reach. A community built with heart
In 2007, two longtime friends and healthcare professionals, Karim Kassam and Farid F. Damji, dreamed of a better way to care for seniors. Having watched their own parents and grandparents age with dignity and love, they felt called to extend that same level of care to others. Over a cup of coffee and a restaurant napkin, the foundation for Optima Living was born—a community built not just with bricks but with heart.
